Seminar on New Technologies for Senior Officials
June
10, 2004
A
seminar for top–level officials of the central and local government bodies
started its work on June 10, 2004 in Vitebsk under the guidance of President
of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. Innovation policy in our country, first of
all, elaborating, developing, launching full-scale manufacture of products
based on newest technologies, and, not of lesser importance, commercializing
them are the subjects of discussion at the seminar.
Seminars for senior officials held since 1996 make it possible for the heads
of central and local authorities to obtain a deeper knowledge of the
priority areas of the state policy, to exchange views on ways of its
implementation. Over recent years, it has become common practice that the
seminar sessions are held alternatingly in each of the country’s regions
thus enabling their participants to make an in-depth study of the problems
at the level of every region.
According to Alexander Lukashenko, it is natural that the issues of the
innovation policy should be considered in the year of acceleration and
quality because two-digit GDP growth in Belarus must be achieved largely by
manufacturing new, high-quality, and competitive products. The President stressed that Belarus
must be stronger and firmly established in joining globalization processes
so as to be equal, if not to be setting rules.
