In Finland,
Director of the Belarusian High-Tech Park’s Administration, Valery Tsepkalo,
has met Technopolis’ Director – Martti Launonen and Director of Operations –
Mervi Kaki. The co-operative agreement will enable countries to share
information on Parks’ activity, collaborate and exchange managerial
practice. Meetings were held with companies from Finland’s high-tech sector
to discuss prospects for co-operation regarding information exchange and
collaboration. Additionally, the Finnish Park is to offer consultative
assistance to the Belarusian Park regarding the creation of modern office
and educational infrastructure. TietoEnator’s Centre for Research and
Developments is to set up at the Belarusian High-Tech Park as a result of
the Belarusian delegation’s meeting with Pentti Heikkinen — President and
CEO of Finnish-Swedish IT group TietoEnator (the fifth largest company in
Europe to develop soft ware) — and Matti Lehti — a member of the Board and
Chancellor of Helsinki’s School of Economics. The Belarusian High-Tech Park
also presented to Nokia — the world’s largest mobile phone company. Its Vice
President, Erkki Ormala, demonstrated his company’s latest developments and
expressed his wish to visit Belarus. He hopes to study opportunities for
mobile phone sales and other areas of co-operation in the high-tech sphere.
