Valery Tsepkalo, director of the
High-Tech Park administration, informed that a range of domestic and foreign
enterprises and companies have shown interest in taking up residency in
Belarus’ ‘silicon valley’. At present, the Government is considering
applications. Interested parties can browse their site at
www.park.by.
Mr. Tsepkalo underlines that, in
addition to IT and telecommunication firms, traditional enterprises are also
welcome within the Park if they are willing to embrace innovative schemes.
He hopes that the Park will create a favorable environment for developing
the latest technology and will help the country’s national economy towards
an innovative future — one of the basic aims of Belarus’ socio-economic
development plan for 2006-2010. Moreover, the Park is to provide legitimate
opportunities for young talented programmers.
“The Park will offer exciting
options for young people, far more beneficial than sitting at home alone
with their computers,” Mr. Tsepkalo declares. The lower rent being offered
to small companies aims to particularly attract such programmers. He
concludes that intellectual, artistic and professional development is one of
Belarus’ priorities.
