On Cooperation between Belarus and China
Washington, D.C., December 7, 2005
On 5-6 of December, 2005, the Belarusian official delegation headed by
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko paid visit to China.
Representatives of key ministries, as well as business circles of Belarus
were also included in the delegation.
The visit became a logical continuation of successful development of
relations between Belarus and China and showed how fruitful cooperation can
be when it is based on the mutual confidence, equality, respect and
friendship.
In the course of the visit Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Chair of the
People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao, First Vice Premier of the State
Council,
permanent member of the political bureau of the Communist Party of China
Huang Ju, Chairman of the Standing
Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Wu Bangguo, and Chairman
of the organizational committee of the Olympic Games “Beijing 2008”, member
of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Liu Qi. Other
members of the Belarusian delegation also held meetings with their Chinese
colleagues.
After discussions of a huge range of issues of mutual interests the
following accords were reached:
- Joint Declaration was adopted by Belarus and China which
reflects the most important political and economic agreements concluded at
the highest level and confirmed the readiness of the parties to boost mutual
trade, to develop new cooperation models and to successfully implement
different projects;
- several agreements were signed during the visit, including
cooperation agreements in the field of tourism, press, finances, on
cooperation principles between the local executive and administrative bodies
of Belarus and local governments of China, on interaction in the educational
field for 2006-2010, on cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences
of Belarus and the Academy of Sciences of China;
- 20 economic agreements were concluded by business circles for
the total sum about $ 500 million.
- the parties agreed to intensify investment cooperation by
implementation of bilateral projects, mainly in high-end technology fields.
- the parties also agreed to cooperate mutually in space development field.
The visit
of the Belarusian delegation will be continuing by the Days of Culture of
Belarus in China, a ceremony of official opening of those took place on
December 6, 2005 in Beijing.
