on the adoption
by the US House of Representatives of Belarus Democracy Act
Belarus Democracy Act is of clearly destructive nature.
The adoption of the legislation that was hurried through the House of
Representatives is an attempt to interfere into internal affairs of a
sovereign state.
The fact that the Act was hurriedly adopted without waiting for the outcome
of parliamentary elections and national referendum clearly manifests that
its main and unequivocal objective is to apply political pressure on the eve
of these important events.
The actions of the House of Representatives vividly characterize the
principles of the US foreign policies that are fully subjected to the
strengthening of American dominance in today’s world.
Taking unilateral measures against sovereign states is a very dubious
practice both from the point of view of international law and their
efficiency.
We
do not accept the methods of pressure by force. The history of Belarus
demonstrates that such actions have never achieved intended results.
Belarus stands for the development of Belarusian-American relations solely
on the basis of equality and respect for mutual interests. |
