Establishment of the Theology Institute

The Belarusian State University decided to establish the
Institute of Theology named after Saints Methodius and Cyril. The Institute,
which will be affiliated with the Belarusian State University, will have the
status of legal entity and will make it possible for the former students of
the Theological Faculty of the European Humanities University to continue
their studies.
Metropolitan Philaret of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch
of All Belarus, Doctor of Theology and Professor of Minsk Theological
Academy has been appointed rector of the new educational institution.
Previously, he was Dean of the Theological Faculty of the European
Humanities University.
Three chairs will be opened at the Institute: theological
disciplines, religious studies and bibliography. 90 students will study at
the Institute.
The main objective of the Institute is to reestablish the
links between Christian traditions and modern culture, set up the system of
Christian education at the higher education level, renew the system of
Christian methodology in educational, pedagogical and scientific spheres, as
well as prepare qualified high level experts in the area of theological and
humanitarian education. |
