Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov met with the Head of the
OSCE Mission on observation of parliamentary elections in Belarus
On September 6, 2004 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus
Sergei Martynov met with Head of the OSCE observation mission of the
parliamentary elections in Belarus Audrey Glover. During the meeting the
parties discussed issues of formation of the Mission, its activities and
reporting.
Minister Martynov underscored that the Belarusian authorities
had undertaken all efforts to provide free, fair and democratic elections in
accordance with the national legislation and the international commitments
of Belarus. The Minister pointed at openness of the Belarusian side, which
had sent invitation to the OSCE to conduct full-scale observation of the
parliamentary elections. Minister Martynov underlined that Belarus assumes
that the Mission of international observers in its activity must follow
principles of fairness and impartiality.
Audrey Glover assured the Belarusian Minister that all
international observers would comply with the OSCE Code of conduct of an
observer and would avoid biased approach in work. |
