In
January-May 2007, Belarus Boosts Exports of Transportation Services by 33.2
percent
In
January-May this year, Belarus increased exports of transportation services
by 33.2 percent from the same period last year to $833.4 million. The
transportation services accounted for 77.3 percent of the total exports of
services, Ministry of Statistics and Analysis informed.
Over the
five months of 2007 export of tourist services increased 1,5 times up to
$14.7 million, communication services by 14.3 percent to $52.3 million,
construction services by 20.6 percent to the tune of $36.5 million.
Major
exports of services also include leasing of equipment and transport vehicles
and rental lease. These services amounted to $18.1 million (an increase of
30.3 percent) and $5.4 million (25.8 percent up) respectively. The exports
of other business services surged by 40.3 percent from January-May last year
to make up $118.1 million (10.9 percent of the total exports of services).
In
January-May 2007, Belarus’ foreign trade in services soared by 40.6 percent
over the same period last year to reach $1.593 billion. Exports went up by
32.5 percent to $1.079 billion, imports – by 61 percent to $0.515 billion.
