Implementation of the CORE Program

CORE Program “Cooperation for Rehabilitation of living conditions in Chernobyl affected areas in Belarus” was established with the aim to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of selected districts by reaching out to the people themselves, helping them to contribute to formulating specific individual and common project proposals.

In November 2004 the presentation of the CORE Program website was organized at the Chernobyl Committee of Belarus. The website (http://www.core-chernobyl.org/eng/) contains complete information, in Russian and in English, on the program and its implementation (CORE Program presentation material and CORE Program project proposal procedure are available).

On November 19, 2004 the CORE Program Approval Board approved 29 project proposals, which will shortly be published at the CORE website for the consideration by potential donors. The board also approved Guidelines for the CORE Program Applicants.

The Embassy of Belarus would appreciate the distribution of this information among interested American organizations and potential donors.
