The International Conference on the CORE Program, Co operation for
Rehabilitation, takes place in Paris

Vladimir Tsalko, Chair of the Chernobyl Committee under the Council of
Ministers of Belarus, delivered a report. At that time he was on an official
visit to France by the invitation of the European Partner Committee, CORE
Program.
At
the conference, Vladimir Tsalko told about long-run consequences of the
Chernobyl catastrophe in Belarus, the problems of rehabilitation of
contaminated territories, and development of joint initiatives.
Within the framework of Mr. Tsalko’s visit, working meetings took place in
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France and Secretariat of UNESCO. In the
course of negotiations, the opportunities of attracting new partners and
donors were discussed for the further development in the suffered regions,
as well as joint projects within the CORE Program. Issues relating to an
international conference to be held next year on the occasion of the 20th
anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster were also considered.
