MINSK, April 25, 2005

On the Day of the Chernobyl tragedy, April 26, wives of foreign ambassadors will visit contaminated areas. Representatives of the Minsk international club of foreign ambassadors’ wives will go to the Bragin region to render charitable assistance to children and elderly people.

As a Belarusian Telegraph Agency correspondent was told by head of the club, wife of the Ambassador of Armenia to Belarus Nina Arutiunian, the visit to the Bragin region will start with placing the flowers at the monument to Vasiliy Ignatenko. He was one of the first rescuers in the Chernobyl catastrophe and perished while extinguishing a fire at the fourth power-generating unit. The program envisages a visit to the Novoelchansk school, local kindergarten and the rural medical ambulatory. In the village of Krasnoe the wives will meet with elderly people and children.
