On Day of Chernobyl Tragedy Wives of Foreign Ambassadors to
Visit Bragin Region
MINSK, April 25, 2005
On
the Day of the Chernobyl tragedy, April 26, wives of foreign ambassadors
will visit contaminated areas. Representatives of the Minsk international
club of foreign ambassadors’ wives will go to the Bragin region to render
charitable assistance to children and elderly people.
As
a Belarusian Telegraph Agency correspondent was told by head of the club,
wife of the Ambassador of Armenia to Belarus Nina Arutiunian, the visit to
the Bragin region will start with placing the flowers at the monument to
Vasiliy Ignatenko. He was one of the first rescuers in the Chernobyl
catastrophe and perished while extinguishing a fire at the fourth
power-generating unit. The program envisages a visit to the Novoelchansk
school, local kindergarten and the rural medical ambulatory. In the village
of Krasnoe the wives will meet with elderly people and children.
